Tahiri Pulao is a traditional one Pot Turmeric, Potatoes and Rice dinner!

Ingredients
3tbspoil or half melted butter and half oil
1/2Onine, diced
1/2tbspCumin (zeera)
3chunkyGarlic cloves, finely chopped
1inchGinger, finely chopped
1tbspSriracha Sauce (skip if you cooking for kids)
1/2cupPassata or tomato sauce
1mediumTomato, chopped
1Bay leaf
5Whole black pepper corn
1Cinnamon stick
1/2tbspPaprika (or to taste)
1 1/4tbspTurmeric
1 1/2 tbspSalt, (or to taste)
1/2tspGround pepper
1/2tspgaram masala or Chinese 5 spice mix
3-4largePotates, cut into quarters
2cupBasmati Rice, I used Tilda
1Green chilli (optional)
Mint or Coriander to garnish
4 1/4cuphot water from the kettle
Instructions
In a large frying pan heat the oil and butter on a medium heat and add onions. Stir and fry for a minute or so...until translucent but no colour.
Add the cumin, garlic, ginger, paprika, turmeric, sriracha, tomatoes and tomato paste, chilli and stir fry it for another minute.
Throw in the salt, pepper, cinnamon, garam masala, pepper corn and bay leaf.
Now add potatoes and 1/2 cup hot water, cover and cook for 3-4 minutes on a medium heat.
Finally add the Rice and remaining hot water stir, cover and cook in a rice cooker for 20 minutes until the rice cooked and the green light appears. Or if you cooking in a normal pot... stir and cook on medium heat but do not cover until you see 70% of the water disappeared and then you turn the heat to the lowest setting and let it cook covered for another 10 minutes.
Garnish with coriander or mint and Serve hot with Raita and onion-tomato salad...Enjoy!
